C12 Launches Emulator in Partnership with OVHcloud

C12 Launches Emulator in Partnership with OVHcloud,

Paris, June 13th, 2023 - C12, developing next-generation quantum computers based on carbon nanotubes, is launching its quantum emulator, Callisto, in partnership with OVHcloud, the European Cloud leader. With the launch of Callisto, C12 is poised to have its technology become widely accessible for quantum developers in France, the broader European ecosystem, and globally.

"It's time to make C12 technology available to all quantum developers. Our approach is unique and, until now, no developer has yet been able to test its capabilities. It took us a year to create Callisto, because we wanted to make sure that all the physics phenomena that we have measured and that occur in our quantum processor during computation are well-programmed into this emulator. Callisto is the first version of our digital twin, and we are excited to see how developers will begin to use it," explains Pierre Desjardins, Co-founder and CEO of C12.

Now with OVHcloud, students, industrial organizations and research teams will be able to test C12’s technology.

By signing with OVHcloud, Europe's leading cloud provider, C12 is making the digital twin of its future processor available to the entire quantum ecosystem. Researchers will be able to develop new quantum algorithms and noise reduction techniques, and quantum developers from large companies and quantum algorithm startups will be able to explore quantum-appropriate use cases and study their respective scaling laws.

"Innovation is one of the pillars of OVHcloud. We are convinced that quantum computing will be a major change in the years to come. To prepare for tomorrow's use cases now, and while we're delighted to be benefitting the French and European ecosystems broadly, the availability of a third notebook will enable students, researchers, startups and large corporations alike to begin their first developments. In this manner, they can benefit from the advantages of the cloud in terms of access and cost and are certain to be at the forefront of quantum computing," notes Fanny Bouton, Quantum Lead OVHcloud.

An emulator that accurately reproduces all of C12’s processor

Based on carbon nanotubes, the processor developed by C12 features a minimal interface with its environment, and unprecedented fidelity rates. Compatible with all existing SDKs, including Qiskit and OpenQASM, this first version emulates 13 qubits with a noise model identical to the native product (decoherence channels and ability to enter physical parameters). New versions with more qubits (up to 25 qubits) and additional features are already planned and underway.

"Our emulator offers far superior availability and performance than current emulators on the market. Carbon nanotubes will be to quantum computing what silicon has been to classical computing," concludes Pierre Desjardins, co-founder and CEO of C12.

About C12

C12 is building next-generation quantum computers to speed up highly complex computing tasks, thanks to a unique technology developed at CNRS and thePhysics Laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. C12 is convinced that only a materials science breakthrough will enable large-scale quantum computers. They combine the power of an ultra-pure material, carbon nanotubes, with an easy-to-manufacture semiconductor device to provide unparalleled fidelity, connectivity, and scalability and lead the next quantum materials leap.
